Our Focus

We focus on Actionable Genomics℠: evidence-based genetic risks that you can do something about, whether it is a medication affected by genetics, or a medical genetic risk such as a specific cancer risk. ActX is a continuous service — the analysis provided is frequently updated based on the latest evidence.


Our Team

ActX is a team of talented geneticists, physicians, pharmacologists, genetic counselors, software developers, and DevOps specialists.

Andrew Ury M.D., Founder and Chairman/CEO

ActX was founded in 2012 by Dr. Andrew Ury. Dr. Ury founded and was CEO of the first commercial Electronic Medical Record (EMR) company, Practice Partner, in 1983. Practice Partner became one of the most widely used EMR’s in the United States and received multiple TEPR Best Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) awards. Practice Partner was acquired by McKesson, a Fortune 15 company, in 2007. Dr. Ury initially was a VP/General Manager at McKesson and then became Chief Medical Officer at McKesson Provider Technologies. Dr. Ury left McKesson in 2009 to found Aucolla.

Dr. Ury is the co-founder of one of the leading practice based research networks, PPrNet. He has been on advisory panels for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the National Quality Forum (NQF), and the Joint Commission. He helped found and was twice Vice-Chair of the Electronic Health Record Association (EHRA). He was one of the first Commissioners of the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT). He was the Ernst & Young Northwest Healthcare Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002.

Dr. Ury did his Residency at the University of Washington and is a graduate of Stanford Medical School and Yale University. He has practiced medicine on Vashon Island and in Seattle.


Isabelle Lucas, Director of Genetics

Isabelle Lucas completed her PhD in Cellular and Molecular Genetics at the University Pierre and Marie Curie in Paris, France and her postdoctoral training at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Her experience in genetics has ranged from basic research on the basic properties of the DNA structure, to applied human genetics research, to understanding how large-scale rearrangements of genetic material contribute to the development and progression of cancer at the University of Chicago Department of Medicine. Dr. Lucas has received numerous prestigious fellowships and awards during her graduate and postgraduate education, including the competitive Alexandre Joël award from the Cancer Research Association for basic medical research and a long-term international fellowship from the European Molecular Biology Organization.


Stephen Scheer, VP of Business Development

Stephen Scheer is a graduate of Seattle University’ Albers School of Business. He has served in the healthcare IT field for over 25 years in various leadership roles. Steve managed Value Added Reseller sales for Physician Micro Systems, Inc. and was a member of the leadership team at Practice Partner (formerly Physician Micro Systems, Inc.) After the acquisition of Practice Partner to McKesson, Steve served as Director of Product Management & Commercial Operations for McKesson’s PPS Business Unit. Prior to joining ActX, he was Senior Vice-President of Sales at M2 Information Systems, Inc.
